The Vice President of Aircraft Modification has the primary responsibility for directing the engineering, manufacturing, modification, testing, and certification of aircraft platforms and components to meet regulatory and customer requirements for AEVEX Aerospace.
This leadership role encompasses the responsibility for the profit and loss (P&L) of AEVEX's French Valley location, directing and being accountable for all aircraft modification/integration programs and part manufacturing activities.
The VP of Aircraft Modification reports to the Senior Vice President of Advanced Technologies and is responsible for developing, resourcing, managing, and executing aircraft manufacturing and modification strategies to meet Company objectives and provides counsel to AEVEX corporate leadership on the tactical, operational, and strategic implications of executing these strategies.
The successful leader will possess a strong background in aviation and developed analytical and technical abilities to effect rapid and carefully thought-out execution plans.
This role centers around developing new ideas, systems, and technology while also analyzing and providing a culture of continuous improvement of existing processes and systems.
Strong leadership and awareness of the work process from beginning to end is necessary.
A high level of expertise is expected and the ability to proactively identify and correct errors is critical.
Work environment necessarily requires accuracy and must be done correctly and expeditiously, while always focusing on accomplishing the goal on-time and on-budget and demanding the highest quality work from subordinates.
Though people-centered leadership is a must, the broad scope of the job demands a factual, direct, and authoritative style of communication.
Decision-making, though swift, is very calculated and singular, often with limited reliance on consensus or collaboration.
Essential Functions:
Oversee the management and execution of all French Valley staff, activities, and assigned projects to ensure P&L objectives are met.
Design, develop, resource, implement and execute aircraft modification aircraft and part manufacturing strategies to meet Company objectives.
Advise Corporate leadership on the efficacy of pursing new aviation related strategies resulting from emerging industry trends and regulatory developments.
Represent the Company on aircraft modification and part manufacturing matters in relations with global customers, business, and non-business entities.
Develop, negotiate, and execute aircraft modification and part manufacturing contracts and agreements to support Company objectives.
Serve as site-lead for assigned staff and all activities occurring at AEVEX Aerospace French Valley Airport location.
Ensure all on-site aircraft modification and part manufacturing activities meet the appropriate FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA), FAA Repair Station, and AS9100 Quality Management System requirements, as applicable.
Design, implement, administer, and monitor aircraft modification and part manufacturing policies, programs, and procedures to meet all regulatory requirements and support internal and external audits.
Ensure all assigned work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Provide site leadership on ethics and compliance matters and develop, present, and monitor training programs to communicate those matters to staff.
Ensure all Federal, State, and local laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
Identify and track vital factors for success in coordination with corporate leadership and on-site staff.
Develop and maintain relationship with management and supervisors to resolve employee issues, concerns, and grievances as per existing Company policy.
Develop and maintain appropriate methods to retain all employees through positive motivation and encouragement.
Manage employee pool by hiring, retaining, or terminating of same, and evaluate performance and counsel employees to improve performance.
Provide leadership to employees in terms of company values and culture as part of day-to-day personnel engagements.
Qualifications:
Masters' degree in engineering, business or technical field, or equivalent work experience 20
years' experience in aviation related engineering, parts modification, aircraft maintenance, or aircraft manufacturing supporting the commercial aerospace or defense industries 15
years of demonstrated experience leading and managing large teams and executing projects on-time and on-budget, while delivering a high degree of customer satisfaction Experience developing and negotiating major international agreements within aerospace and defense industry Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to interface with customers and technical professionals at all levels Strong analytical skills and ability to assess technical, programmatic, and contractual issues Possess advanced conflict resolution and planning capabilities Ability to travel to domestic and international locations as necessary Eligible to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret DoD security clearance (US citizenship required) Current US Passport Desired Skills:
