Position Overview:
Canine Support Teams Inc.
is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Canine Care Specialist to provide exceptional care for all dogs within our kennel facility.
The Canine Care Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining the health, well-being, and overall quality of life for our canine companions.
This position involves implementing proper handling techniques, ensuring a safe and clean environment, and offering enriching experiences for the dogs under our care.
Responsibilities:
Sanitation and Disinfection:
Thoroughly sanitize and disinfect kennel areas to create a safe and healthy environment for all dogs.
Regularly clean and disinfect surfaces, crates, and common areas to prevent the spread of illness and maintain cleanliness.
Daily Care:
Provide essential care, including feeding, medicating, and ensuring access to clean and fresh water for all dogs.
Attend to individual dietary and medical needs based on instructions provided by the canine care manager.
Health Monitoring:
Perform weekly health checks on each dog, documenting any changes in condition or behavior.
Recognize signs of illness or distress and communicate observations to the appropriate staff members.
Grooming and Hygiene:
Groom dogs daily, including brushing, bathing, ear cleaning/plucking, teeth brushing, and nail trimming.
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene to promote the dogs' well-being.
Facility Maintenance:
Maintain the kennel facility with meticulous attention, ensuring a safe, clean, and healthy environment for both dogs and staff.
Address any potential hazards, repair minor damages, and ensure proper waste disposal.
Training and Enrichment:
Implement Canine Support Teams' commands and leash etiquette during interactions with dogs.
Supervise playtime and provide mental and physical enrichment activities to enhance the dogs' quality of life.
Grounds Maintenance:
Regularly remove waste, fill holes, and conduct hazard checks in the outdoor kennel grounds to create a safe outdoor environment.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in dog care, veterinary assistance, or related field preferred.
Knowledge of canine behavior, basic health, and grooming practices.
Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments with patience and confidence.
Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and hygiene.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Physical fitness to perform tasks involving lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Compassion for animals and a commitment to their well-being.
Willingness to learn and follow established Canine Support Teams handling and care protocols.
