Temporary Hospice Chaplain
Temporary Hospice Chaplain needed to develop, implement and evaluate the spiritual care aspect on the Interdisciplinary Team Care Plan. Provide inservice programs to staff, volunteers and/or the community.
Provide direct spiritual counseling and support to patients and families.
Assess spiritual needs and resources of patient/family.
Participate in patient care conference.
Contact clergy of a particular faith on the patient/family's behalf.
Maintain record of his/her visits and community clergy contacts.
Conduct funeral or memorial services if requested by the hospice patient's family.
Attend funeral and memorial services as appropriate.
Work with staff and clergy from the community to develop sensitivity to the spiritual concerns of persons experiencing terminal illness and loss.
Perform other related duties as directed by the Hospice Manager.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology.
Knowledge of emotional effects of death, grief and loss.
Experience in working with families facing serious illness.
Ability to be open, flexible, and ecumenical in ministry.
Ability to function independently in providing spiritual care and counseling to patients/families/staff/volunteers and interdependently in developing the Hospice team care plan.
